Corporate Design for natural phenomenon

Natural phenomenon
as corporate design
_Briefing
In order to approach the complex topic of corporate design, our teacher set us the task of creating a complete corporate design for a natural phenomenon. I chose parasitism as my topic.

_Description
To start with my Phenomenon I’m going to tell you the definition of parasitism.
“Parasitism refers to the phenomenon in the animal and plant world that an organism or virus (parasite) misuses a generally much larger organism of a different species as a so called host.”

It’s just a small Input for you, of course I dealt with my topic in much more detail and started with creating a mind map with all the information (some of them were really disgusting like “Mangoworms”. Google them if you want to feel sick) that I could find for parasites.
From this I broke my Mind-Map down to a much smaller Map, with the most important points, which I, once again, then broke down to my so-called “WoW-Factors.
Those 3 points are not only important for parasitism, but also for my Design and construct of what parasitism is for me.

First of all “a parasite is an intruder”.
Second “a parasite needs a host”.
And last but not least “how do we feel about parasites? Acknowledge we their pursuit of survival or do we see them with disgust?”.

My next step then, was to derive those aspects into something concrete. So I stared scribbling many different Logos. After a lot of attempts, I finally had managed to create my 3 WoW-Factors as a Logo.
The word “parasite” is my Logo. Well, of course only almost. Like a parasite, the “a” is hidden in the counter of the “p”, replacing parts of it and yet does not disturbs the flow of the word. The “s” is used mirror-inverted in order to remain undetected, which most people notice only after a second look.

My next step then, was to think about colors for my phenomenon. So when you imagine about the color of a parasite you tend think of something hidden. Skin-clored, fleshy, pink to red tones or rather a subtle brown or green. I decided to do the complete opposite and use bright neon colors. But why?

The project of natural phenomena was designed by many of us to relate to people. Not least because we ourselves are these. And as a parasite is hidden inside us, how loudly would it scream, as soon as we are aware that it is inside us?. Our thoughts only revolve around getting rid of it. We can’t think of anything else and don’t manage to get the parasite out of our head.
In order to convey this feeling, I decided to define Pantone-Neon-Colors for my Color-Palette.
Since  parasites have a huge color variety, it would be impossible to display the Logo in every color possible, so I decided for four Main-Colors.  A neon-pink; neon-green; neon-blue and a neon-yellow. Of course it would be possible to display the logo in other neon colors as well, as long as they meet the point of conspicuity.

To round up my Corporate Design, I chose two fonts. First, the “Aesteht Nova Bold”, which is my headline and also my Logo-Font. It is an Adobe Font, so it can be used of a CD without any problems. Also the Font offers small, playful ligatures, has a high X-Hight, is more round and has a “lively” effect.
As a contrast, I took the “Univers LT Std 55 Roman”. This rather cool, geometric font gives the body text a structured calm, looks familiar and offers a wide variety of different styles.

After the whole Corporate Design was clear, I began to design the Stationary for the Phenomenon. My CD runs through my entire design, but offers variations and therefore never seems boring. It is possible to design an area completely in one of my neon-colors, with the logo then set in negative or, alternatively, a pattern made out of my logo in all different colors to attract even more attention, due to the great variations.

But let’s take a step back and ask ourselves what company could be “parasitism”? Due to its young, dynamic, refreshing designs I decided that parasit is an Energy-Drink-Brand. Also not every parasite harms you, many of them can benefit you in a special way and help you boost your strength in different tasks, so does the Energy-Drink parasit.
Not only does the design in this industry attract the attention of customers, it also fits thematically. Parasit is inside you, after all, you drink your Energy-Drink. The different dose’s also come with Design-Variations. I also designed some stickers, Corona Masks and some Hoodies, fitting for the young target group.

One of the tasks from Peter for our company was also to design a car. I decided to only make a monochrome car variant, because I think the other design would attract to mutch attention and maybe also looks irritating. I checked various car formus whether it is possible to paint a car with fluorescent paint or not. And yes, (at least in Germany) it is allowed as long as it’s is not a luminescent color. That is why I have definded a RAL color for each of my colors in my CD-Manual.

And for the last point I made a Instagram Advert to target the group, because I think it’s more likely to reach them, than with posters or Billboards.

Thank you for looking up my project :)
I hope you like it and I would appreciate your Feedback!
Have a great day.
